Hi,  I'm

Craig Douglass

Here's What I've done so far

Pittsburgh Mercy
Chief Operations Officer  (COO)
2018 to 2020

Serving as a member of the executive leadership team,  I provided leadership, strategic financial planning, and operational vision to increase market share, maximize operating efficiency, and foster collaboration for $110M multi-campus corporation of 1,700 employees serving 33K patients per year. I aligned operations with strategic objectives to address the social influencers of health, close funding gaps in care, enhance communication through decentralization, and promote better decision-making with KPIs and weekly huddles.

Chief Administrative Officer  (CAO)
2016 to 2018

Serving as a member of the executive leadership team,  I administered oversight and implemented stabilizing and cost-effective strategies for finance, information technology, human resources, legal, procurement, facility and hospitality services supporting ambulatory and residential clinical operations. I reduced and maintained administrative spending to under 12% on a $110M operating budget and lowered costs by $350K per year by transforming technology platform to cloud-based system and implementing reporting Business Intelligence (BI) platform to deliver KPIs and monthly P&L reporting. I championed and implemented automation of clinical health record and conversion to single automated workforce management system (WORKDAY), single benefits platform, and single policy.

Chief Compliance Officer  (CCO)
2008 to 2016

Serving a member of the senior management team,  I focused on designing, instituting, and managing the organizational compliance, quality, and risk programs. I administered written standards of conduct, compliance program oversight, colleague education and training, process improvement, internal audit and monitoring, and risk assessment. I pioneered replacement of rule-based system with integrity-based system that embeds compliance and continuous improvement into daily work.

Manager of Patient & Corporate Accounting
2000 to 2008

Serving as a member of the finance department leadership team, I coordinated all Medicaid program(s) and Public subsidy claims for payment through an array of automated business solutions. My focus was on developing and implementing strategies to maximize reimbursement from the Medicaid Behavioral Health Carve-out and the Allegheny County contract; ensures all cost reimbursements and claims are billed and paid/settled in a timely manner. During this time, I orchestrated successful strategic initiatives including the successful automation of clinical health record and financial system; improving the stability and availability of the organizations clinical and business systems while maintaining cash collections at 94%.

Billing Specialist
1999 to 2000

This is where my career started at Pittsburgh Mercy! Serving as a member of a small but fierce Accounts Receivable team,  it was my job to ensure that all claims for service were recorded, authorized, submitted, and reconciled for payment. This was a significant time of change for the organization as the billing system was transitioning from a program funded model to a managed care model. I learned how to work with the organization leaders to adapt known habits around billing to new systems. This time with the organization gifted me a new set of skills, opportunities to learn, and developed my confidence to grow.
